Why the perilous persecution of Matthew Opoku Prempeh?
I am extremely surprised at the way some politically motivated Ghanaians have descended on Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, chastising him for his comment on the economic development of Ghana since independence.

He was only enunciating his discernment about achievements of past presidents of Ghana, and not Kwame Nkrumah alone. I am, therefore, bemused that CPP activists would descend on Dr Prempeh, asking him to retract his words through an apology and not the other parties.
I am glad Dr Prempeh did exactly what the activists demanded from him in a scholarly manner in order to satisfy their inquisitiveness.
The behaviour of Dr Prempeh only portrayed him in a lens of a good scholar. He did exactly what scholars do at higher levels of educational interfaces. It was, actually, not necessary that those concerned would be calling for his resignation or sacking from the NPP instead of putting tangible arguments to counteract his assessment.
Had Nkrumah and CPP performed well, their party would not have plummeted as we experienced for decades. Ghana has advanced significantly since the overthrow of the CPP government that was regarded as despotic.
No country that has followed the ideologies of the East has made any significant gain economically, and that was where CPP lagged behind, leading to her downfall.
Ideologies that generate great wealth are democracy and capitalism. We are now being governed by the offsprings of CPP ministers, who are at the hierarchy of our big political parties.
