Manage Awudome Cemetery better
Cemeteries are simply places where the dead are buried and in most Ghanaian communities, a fair attempt is made to keep the surroundings decent and the environment serene.

Unfortunately, what is happening to the Awudome Cemetery is the complete opposite of how a cemetery should be managed and every right-minded person who passes by the cemetery should be alarmed.
The cemetery is no longer purposed as a place where the dead are buried peacefully but is being gradually transformed into a site where truckloads of silt, rubble and materials from building sites are dumped.
This disgraceful dumping activity has completely taken over the unused section of the cemetery, to the extent that it is no longer visible from the road.
The treatment of the cemetery by the authorities is utterly shameful, to say the least. As if this is not enough, the dumping has been extended to the other side which is in use and looking at the frequency of fully loaded tipper trucks visiting the cemetery to discharge their contents, it will not surprise me if access to the usable part is soon blocked by the dirt, silt and rubble.
This dumping activity defies all reason and I find it difficult to believe that some officials somewhere have authorised this activity to take place at, of all places, the Awudome Cemetery.
If the authorities have neither the resources nor ideas to keep the cemetery in decent condition, they should at the very least, leave it as it is, and not convert it into a dumpsite.
