Attorney General welcomes decision to set up cultural resource centre

The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr Godfred Yeboah Dame, has welcomed the decision by brains behind the Otumfuo Commemorative Gold Coin to use the proceeds to establish an ultra-modern Cultural Resource Centre in Kumasi to serve as a national heritage.

That decision, he noted, underscored the status of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as a powerful ambassador of the country's culture.

"He's also a symbol of our rich culture and there has been no better ambassador for the display of the culture of our people than the Asantehene, " the Attorney General said when he received the Otumfuo Commemorative Gold Coin at a brief ceremony in his office in Accra on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.

Mr Dame pointed out that it was for all those attributes that he found no difficulty in contributing to the success of the gold coin project and also participated in the 2019 event when Otumfuo was honoured as Pillar of Peace.

Colossus

Describing Otumfuo as a colossus on the African continent, Mr Dame said the Asantehene's deeds had been exemplary to all on the continent.

He noted that the might and fame of the Asante Kingdom around the world had been buoyed largely due to the works of the Asantehene, which included his contribution to the peace, stability and development of the nation in the Fourth Republic.

" His works, no doubt, have been unrivalled and stand very tall. I think that it's a very worthy one that everyone should emulate, " the minister stated.

Mr Dame said it was a step in the right direction that the commemorative gold coin was launched in honour of Otumfuo.

Honour

The minister indicated that it was a great honour for him to receive the commemorative gold coin.
