Advertising Association of Ghana - professional institute for potent advertising

The Advertising Association of Ghana (AAG) is the industry body and professional institute for Ghana’s thriving and highly potent advertising and marketing communications business.

We advise, analyse, comment, educate, inform, inspire, innovate, lobby, promote, set standards and we reward marketing communications that work.

Advertisement

The AAG is a non-profit making organisation and is funded by member subscriptions.

What we do

The AAG is the spokesman and servicing body. As a spokesman, it represents Ghana’s advertising and marketing communication interest to government departments, unions and media owners.

It also work closely with other national and international advertising associations.

As a service body, it sets operational standards for the industry through advisory, training, and information services.

The AAG also runs an Award Scheme to show how advertising works. Its most famous is THE GONG GONG AWARDS.

Advocacy

The AAG protects and promotes advertising at all levels of government through grassroots activities.

The body is actively involved in the formulation of advertising related policies at all levels of government.

Presently, the AAG has instituted an advocacy action for the Advertising Council Bill which will establish a legal framework for advertising practice in Ghana.

The Bill is currently tabled before Cabinet.

Aag’s aims and objectives

The aims and objectives of the Association are:
• To promote public confidence in the Advertising profession.

• To safeguard the common interests of those engaged in or using advertising for the promotion of common action and the institution of protective measures.

• To encourage the study of the theory and practice of advertising, and the improvement of its techniques, by the institution of study, examination and award of certificates.

• To establish that efficient advertising is an essential factor in the marketing of goods and services, and in the economic life of the country.

• To demonstrate the efficiency of the services, that advertising and its associated interests can give to government, industry and the public.

• To further the adoption of standards or practice in the business relations between media owners, advertising agencies and advertisers.

Membership categories

Corporate Membership: This category is designed for advertising and marketing communication agencies.

Individual Membership: This membership is designed for adverting/ communications professionals, freelancers and consultants.

Academic Membership: This membership is specifically designed for advertising, communications, and/or marketing departments at a college or university.

Young Professional Membership: This membership is specifically designed for individuals who are 30 years or younger.

This membership category is available only to new members and may not have been a member for the past two years.

Student Membership: Student memberships are designed for individuals at the undergraduate or graduate level in a two-year or four-year college or university in any major. Student members are entitled, Staff or Faculty Referral.

How to become a member of aag Corporate

• Pick up a corporate membership application processing and inspection form at a fee.

• Fill out the form and attach copies of certificate to commence business and registrar general’s forms three and four

• Have your form endorsed by two members in good standing.

• Submit your form at our Secretariat.

• Wait to be called for an interview with the membership committee.

• Have your premises inspected to determine your placement in either gold or platinum category.

• Receive your certificate of membership at our Annual General Meeting (AGM).

• Be an active member by attending conferences of the association, involving your staff in our training programmes and paying your annual dues regularly.

Individual

This category includes individual practicing and aspiring professionals: academics, consultants, young professionals (up to 30 Years) and student (23 years and below).

• Pick up an individual membership application processing form at a fee.

• Fill out the form with the appropriate details.

• Submit your completed form and await you admission letter after approval by the membership committee.

• Receive your certificate of membership at our Annual General Meeting.

• Be an active member by attending conferences of the Association, participating in our training programmes and paying your annual dues regularly.
