Abuti-Agove marks Asafutofiam

The people of Abutia- Agove in the Ho-West district of the Volta region have celebrated their Asafotu Carnival with performances by all Asafo companies drawn from the three divisions of the Abutia traditional area—Kloe, Agove and Teti.

The festival was resplendent with rich traditional regalia and was set agog by the youth who largely made up the Asafo groups with main attraction being musketry by youth warriors.

Sokpoe set for Tortsogbeza festival

The people of Sokpoe traditional area in the South Tongu district of the Volta Region are set to celebrate their annual Tortsogbeza(River Crossing) festival in commemoration of their migration from Notsie in the 17th century from tomorrow, April, 14-17.

A weekly jazz session dubbed ‘Jazz Speak Easy’, took off  last Friday, March 31 at the Crown Apartamento, near the Nyaho Medical Centre at the  Airport Residential Area in Accra.

Guitarist, composer and producer, Constant Boty and his Guru Guru Project were in the house and would be there every Friday with their brand of music that fuses West African folk tunes and jazz elements with soul, funk, rock and Afro-Caribbean beats.
