Stop sharing awards like Akpeteshie tots - Captain Planet tells Charterhouse
It looks like controversies surrounding the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), won’t be ending anytime soon as more nominees continue to wade into the issues.
Although it seems the buzz has been around Patapaa and his anger at Fancy Gadam winning the Song of the Year category, others have their own issues.
For Captain Planet, leader of Hiplife group, 4X4, the awards were distributed like shots of locally manufactured alcoholic drink, ‘Akpeteshie’. Although the video for his song, Obi Agye Obi Girl, won the Best Video Award, Captain Planet is of the view that the awards were not given to the deserving nominees.
“I want to tell the VGMA Board to stop sharing the awards like Akpeteshie shots and give it to the deserving people. I had five nominations and won only one award but I think I deserved more because Obi Agyi Obi Girl did marvelously well in the year under review,” he added.
Hiplife musician, Kofi Kinaata, who had won the Songwriter of the Year award twice in a row, was this year bested by the late Ebony’s manager, Bullet who won for the song, Maame Hw3.
