MUSIGA set for anti-corruption walk

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) will embark on an anti-corruption walk in Accra on Wednesday, June 19 as part of the union’s ongoing anti-corruption campaign titled; “The Role of Music in the Implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACAP)”.

The walk starts from the Obra Spot at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle to the Hearts Park, near the Centre for National Culture or Arts Centre in Accra.

Some of the musicians expected to be part of the walk include those who featured on the all-star anti-corruption song. They are EL, who is the face of the campaign and composed the song, Kidi, Okyeame Kwame, Knii Lante and Cina Soul.

According to the MUSIGA President, Bice Osei Kuffour, also known as Obour, the union’s anti-corruption campaign is its contribution to the ongoing national fight against the canker which affects not only the provision of services and infrastructural development but also casts a slur on the nation’s image.

Organisations such as the Union of Informal Workers Association (UNIWA), Ghana Actors Guild (GAG), Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Women in Performing Arts (WIPA) and Women in Gospel Music (WIGM) will join in the walk.
A series of activities have already been held as part of the campaign.

These include the recording of an all-star song and video, a drama video and an anti-corruption walk in Kumasi.

At the launch of the MUSIGA anti-corruption campaign in March, the Chairperson of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), Mrs Josephine Nkrumah, recalled the role of music in various social campaigns in the past and described the medium and the arts in general as veritable tools for attitudinal change.

The MUSIGA anti-corruption campaign is supported by STAR-Ghana Foundation, Kasapreko, Papaye Fast Foods and Special Ice.
