Green Music Festival comes to Cape Coast

The maiden edition of Green Music Festival, will on Friday, March 25, take off with a concert at the Addisons Square Gardens in the Central regional capital, Cape Coast.

Green Festival is a cultural collaboration between Ghana and Denmark and will involve both Danish and Ghanaian music groups. Musicologists and other academics from both countries will also lead workshops and seminars. 

 

The festival will focus on the need for preservation of the environment while emphasising the use of renewable and clean energy. There will be a focus on the need to employ solar energy to power musical instruments and equipment and other gadgets.

A seminar / workshop slated for Thursday March 24 at the Music, Department, University of Cape Coast will dwell on diverse issues including how musicians can effectively contribute to education on the environment.

On Saturday March 26, a concert at the Pedu Goil Station will feature Total Hip Replacement, Junglelyd, Luca Sophia Krohn (Denmark), African Footprint Legends, Twerampon Traditionals (Ghana) as well as the Australia- based Ghanaian star, Afro Moses and Atongo Zimba.

The Royal Academy of Music, Maths Records, Klejtrup Musikefterskole, Den Rytmisk Højskole, Vestergaardskolen, Addisons Mighty Works Aps (all in Denmark), Music Department, University of Cape Coast (Ghana) and Hello Afrika (Hungary) are partners of the festival.
