I am not a politician - A Plus

A musician cum comedian, Kwame Asare Obeng known in the entertainment industry as Kwame A Plus, has disputed claims by a section of the public that he has diverted his music career to become a politician.

According to him, he is nationalist and will always contribute his quota towards the development of the country.

“What I want to do is to be part of a process to change the country for the better,” he said.

In an interview on Accra-based Hitz FM, the musician stated that he has the right to be part of the building process of the country.
“I am a citizen of this country and have a say in what my tax is used for,” Kwame A Plus stated.

Making reference to Bob Marley, he said Bob Marley’s songs were full of politics, saying “Most of the songs that Bob Marley did were political.”

He said music offered him a better platform to reach the masses with the message he wanted to put across.

“My interest was to have a voice; that is why my first song was ‘Me Suro’,” Kwame A Plus explained, noting that “That was what I wanted to do. I didn’t do music because I wanted to be a musician but there were certain issues I was looking for an avenue to talk about.”
