Efya gears up for AFFRIMA Awards
Sultry singer, Efya, is already raising her hopes of securing an award at this year’s African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFFRIMA) scheduled for Saturday, October 10 at the Black Academy of Arts and Letters, Dallas, USA.

The Best In Me artiste has been nominated in the Best Female West Africa category.
Efya is in contention for the award with the likes of Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Tiwa Savage (Nigeria), Viviane Chidid (Senegal), Teeyah (Ivory Coast), Almok (Togo).
She is also facing home “rivalry” from Becca and Wiyaala, who took home the Most Promising Artiste and The Revelation of the African Continent at last year’s event.
However, inspite of the fierce competition, Efya is hopeful of grabbing the award and bringing it to Ghana.
“My nomination at this year’s AFRIMMA for the Best Female West Africa category means a lot to me because the awards scheme is a prestigious one. I am really excited about it but my joy will be complete if I come back home with the award to show that my works are being recognised outside of the country,” she told Showbiz in an interview last week Friday.
According to the award winning singer, “It is always a great feeling to know that you are being appreciated for your work and it motivates me to work harder”.
Apart from Efya, other Ghanaian artistes nominated for awards at the event are Stonebwoy, R2Bees, Kwabena Kwabena, Sarkodie and gospel music group, No Tribe.
Since its inception last year, the AFRIMMA awards has celebrated African artistes and the different genre of African music- Afrobeats, Assiko, Bongo, Decale, Funana, Genge, Highlife, Hiplife, Kwaito, Lingala and Soukous - which identifies the cultural roots of the continent and this year’s edition will be no exception.
This year’s edition will be hosted by Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth, and Uganda’s Anne Kansime.
