Amakye Dede, others to storm Kwahu

Come December 24, all roads will lead to Kwahu Abetifi in the Eastern Region when the Kwahu Republic Music Festival comes off.

Put together by Media Excel Productions, the three-day festival will see performances at Kwahu Abetifi at each night.

Billed to perform at the Older Timers Night on December 24 is legendary highlife musician Amakye Dede who will bring ‘serious’ business to the people of Kwahu and its environs.

Also on the bill are Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Bessa Simons, Nana Kwame Ampadu and Kofi Sammy Abrekyireba. Others are A.B. Crentsil, Nana Tuffour and Ben Brako.

The Gospel Night comes off on December 25 and will have top Gospel artistes treating patrons to songs from their rich repertoire.

In performance will be Francis Amo, Nicholas Omane Acheampong, Piesie Esther and Isaiah Kojo Ampong. Nacee, S. P. Kofi Sarpong. Elder Francis Adjei, Joyce Blessing and Ernest Opoku will also perform.

Lovers of Hiplife and Dancehall will have their turn on December 26 when the Boxing Day Jam comes off at the same venue.

Billed to perform are Kofi Kinaata, Barima Sidney, Captain Planet, Kwaw Kese and Shatta Wale. Others are Lilwin, Ebony, Stonebwoy, Dadie Opanka and the One Corner hitmaker, Patapaa.

According to Kwesi Ernest, CEO of Media Excel Productions, the aim of the programme, which they hope to hold annually, is to promote the arts and culture with Kwahu as the centre for entertainment in Ghana.

“ We hope to achieve sustainable business and job opportunities for the people through the arts in the Eastern Region.” he explained.
