Latif streams live COVID-19 stigma play

Dubbed the “COVID-19 edition of Judas and Delilah”, the play seeks to bring together top Ghanaian celebrities to join the campaign in the fight against stigmatisation among persons infected with the virus.

The play will be streamed live today  on Latif Abubakar’s YouTube page and the Ministry of Information’s Facebook account, as well as on GTV at 8:00p.m. prompt.

It features Adjetey Annan, Naa Ashorkor, Shelter Sey and Bright Jefferson Djangmah

It is sponsored by AirtelTigo, Nobel International School and the Ghana Pharma Awards.

According to the award winning playwright, the campaign will also bring on board respectable religious and political leaders, including the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Cape Coast, the Most Reverend Charles Gabriel Palmer Buckle, and the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu.

Appeal to emotions
In an interview, Mr Abubakar said the play would appeal to the emotions of people to end stigmatisation and also encourage them to abide by all the COVID-19 safety protocols.

“Considering the growing numbers of theatre and entertainment lovers in Ghana, I am certain that the play will give hope to the people and deal with issues of stigmatisation,” he said.

As the pacesetters of live virtual play with a record of 3.5million views on the various social media platforms, Mr Abubakar said he believed storytelling and theatre could be used to convey critical messages about COVID-19.

Judas and Delilah
Judas and Delilah is a comedy that tells how a crook doctor carelessly spreads COVID-19 among his lovers.

However, one of the lovers, Delilah, plans a revenge on the doctor while another, Jezebel, appears at his clinic to worsen the issue, which turns out to be a battle of traitors.
