Regina’s ‘Jungle Justice’ wins award
Media personality, Regina Van Helvert, says she is appreciative of the honour done her at the 2018 Ghana Movie Awards where her first self-produced movie, Jungle Justice won Best Short Movie.
Jungle Justice, is a campaign against extrajudicial killings, popularly referred to as mob justice in Sub-Saharan Africa. The movie highlights how a character was lynched and burnt to ashes by people in his community for stealing.
Regina said she wanted to educate people on the need to allow the law to take its course when there are misunderstandings and is happy she was recognised.
“I fell in love with the script because it was not the usual love and romance thing. And it was challenging, especially the storyline which spoke about citizens learning to let the laws take action whenever miscreants are exposed.
“I did it because I felt it was a pressing issue that needed to be dealt with so winning an award was not in the picture but today see. Winning means it was good and I should do more.
