Ghana Models Awards returns
The maiden edition of the awards scheme came off in 2013 with the last one taking place in 2016.

The last edition saw Ian Wordi winning the Overall Male Model of the Year while Victoria Michaels won the Overall Female Model of the Year.
This year, about 15 awards, including Runway Model of the Year, Bikini Model of the Year, Discovery of the Year, Overall Male Model of the Year and the Overall Female Model of the Year, will be given out on the night.
Objectives
In an interview with the Daily Graphic, the Founder of the Ghana Models Awards, Jerry Wonder, said the scheme was to help project Ghana’s models to the next level.
“Ghana Models Awards is the only awards scheme that genuinely seeks to improve the profession of modelling in Ghana. This year, we are going to celebrate our hardworking achievers within the modelling fraternity in Ghana who indeed made some impact in 2019,” he said.
According to him, modelling was a great profession just like any other, but it’s unfortunate most people didn’t see it that way in Ghana.
“Modelling is a fine profession but it is the lack of certain policies to protect the work of models in Ghana that is crippling our industry.
Why should models from outside be used for some major jobs by companies in Ghana when we have local talents who are competent enough to do the same work?” he asked.
