Steve Bedi for Stanbic jazz event

Patrons at the Stanbic Ghana Jazz Festival, scheduled for the Accra International Conference Centre from June 24 to June 26, should, therefore, expect a clever dose of that style from saxophonist, Steve Bedi.

Born in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region but hailing from the Volta Region, Bedi has been playing the saxophone since he was seven years old and has risen to become one of the most accomplished in the system.

He has played with many big names in this country such as Kojo Antwi, Wutah, Rex Omar, Amandzeba, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Ben Brako, Bessa Simons, Paulina Oduro, Josh Laryea, Ofori Amponsah, Kwabena Kwabena and Becca.

The man whose work has taken him to places such as France, United States, South Africa, Sierra Leona and Malawi, has two albums under his name:  ‘Syncos Jazz’ and ‘Shades Of My Reality.’

Bedi has a lush tone which he uses to express his appreciable grasp of African rhythms and wide bouquet of jazz styles.

Other Ghanaian acts on the bill include Victor Dey, Bernard Ayisa, Les Femmes, an all-female band, Kyekyeku and Akablay.

The headline act for this year’s Stanbic Ghana jazz bash is popular American smooth jazz musician, Bob James. The concert will also feature American saxophonist,Tom Braxton.

Sponsors of the three-day jazz event include the Graphic Communications Group Limited, Vodafone Business Solutions, Labadi Beach Hotel, Joy FM and Citi FM.
