After being shown around the world, Ghanaian movie lovers will now get the chance to watch acclaimed filmmaker, Shirley Frimpong Manso’s Potato Potahto when it comes to the Silverbird Cinemas on November 30.
Described as an African marital comedy of errors, Potato Potahto has been lauded at nearly every event is has been shown including the Cannes Film Festival in May, the 38th Durban International Film Festival in July and the British Urban Film Festival in September.
It was also part of the official selection for the Film Africa Festival which ran from October 27 to November 5.
The film revolves around a divorced couple who cannot agree on divorce terms and settle for co-ownership of their matrimonial home and that is where chaos erupts.
The man, Tony brings in an attractive female house help which compels his wife Lulu to hire an attractive young man to help her out and it is a roller coaster ride of laughter, jealousy and tears.
Nigeria actor, OC Ukeje and Ghana’s Joselyn Dumas play the lead roles while popular names like Joke Silva, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Chris Attoh, Nikki Samonas, Adjetey Annang, Lala Akindoju and Victoria Michaels.
Potato Potahto was screened for the press last Tuesday and Shirley Frimpong Manso said the film highlights the fact that there is no perfect relationship.
According to her, couples have to accept the fact that in every relationship, there are problems but it takes the two to make it work.
Potato Potahto will also show on Friday, November 24 in both Lagos and South Africa.
