Panji, others show creativity at ‘Akwaabytes’
Other artists in the exhibition where the works being presented are “stand-alone” units or “digits” that can be woven into a greater whole, but with no restrictions on medium are Nana Anoff, Nada Moukarzel, Jean-Marc Nahas, Nii Obodai, Pania Odaymat and Kwadjo Rasta.

“Patrons can look forward to strange alliances and pieces crafted in audio, wearable formats, plastic, metal, wood, photography, film, paint and paper from a radical and inspired group of creative persons,” Panji told Showbiz on behalf of the other artists who all belong to a collective called Beyond.
The Akwaabytes exhibition is the second group effort for the collective after an initial showing last year. It is conceived and curated by Beyond collective founding member, Rania Odaymat and hosted by Nada Moukarzel.
This year, the artists will be joined and inspired by Lebanese artist Jean-Marc Nahas, who will arrive for the first time in West Africa to participate in the show and create some of his pieces in real time.
Panji’s contribution to the exhibition was inspired by the issue of people having many questions to ask and the realisation that not all questions have answers.
He set about asking hundreds of people what questions they have for the Universe and pieced their answers together into music to try to make sense of their thoughts. Titled, Questions Beyond Answers, it is a piece of contemporary music that attempts to answer questions with more questions.
“The exhibition is something all lovers of art in all its forms must see because it is a bold presentation by people with brilliant perspectives inspired by digital connections, chain reactions and the ubiquitous sound-bites and snappy chatter of social media,” said Panji.
Akwaabytes will be on at the newly-launched La Maison space at Icon House, which will be transformed into a gallery space for the duration of the exhibition.
