Nothing but the best on Sunday

This additional “task” has no doubt put the young ladies in a fierce competition but despite the fever which keeps mounting as the final event approaches, the ladies have promised their fans and the public, a good performance at the final event when they spoke with Showbiz last Friday.

According to Maame Akosua Ayiwa Sika of the Ashanti Region, the crown is a “do or die” affair for her as she hopes to put in her best to bring glory to the Ashanti Kingdom and the Golden stool. Sika whose passion is to bring help to the aged hopes to follow in the footsteps of Ekua, who won the title in 2011.

Contestants from the Volta Region have always been a force to reckon with in past editions of the pageant and Fafa, a Level 300 Psychology student of the University of Ghana, Legon, hopes to ride on that glory to victory on Sunday.

“I want to project the rich culture and heritage of the people of the Volta Region. I want Ghanaians and particularly, foreigners to appreciate the culture of Africans,” were the words of Melody Fafa Bossman.

Fafa believes the dominance of foreign culture has relegated the Ghanaian culture to the background. She hopes to use the platform and her status if she wins the crown to campaign on the need for Ghanaians, especially the youth to appreciate, project and maintain “our culture which makes us distinct”.

For one who was privileged to be rescued from the “claws of poverty” and given the opportunity of good education by Apostle Kwadwo Safo, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Esi Abakah Sikafo has the passion of helping the less privileged and leading the crusade to halt  the rising cases of teenage pregnancy in the  Central region.

She told Showbiz that poverty has been the primary cause of teenage pregnancy and growing up from such a background, she knows that many of such cases are preventable when these young ladies are given the opportunity to be groomed and educated.

Esi promises patrons and people from the Central region nothing but the best on the final day.

Soft-spoken Afariwaa who is representing the Eastern Region has the good of the environment at heart. Coming from a region that is no stranger to galamsey operations, Afariwaa believes the rate of environmental degradation is worrying and hopes to champion the cause for good environment practices as winner of the pageant.

This year’s pageant which is the nineth of Ghana’s Most Beautiful started in July with 10 ladies-  Iddrisu Mahama Ayesha (Northern),  Ama Adomah Fauziah (Brong Ahafo),  Naa Kai Tettey (Greater Accra),  Adjoa Afariwaa Dawson (Eastern ), Vera Oheneba Safoah-(Central), Sabina Hayford Maame Araba (Western, Melody Fafa Bossman (Volta),  Maame Akosua Ayiwa Sika (Ashanti, Ibrahim Nimatu( Upper West) and Patience Adongo Azure ( Upper East).
