Launching the event, the Italian Ambassador, Madam Laura Carpini, said the event was a way for the two countries to strengthen their relationship and foster cultural exchange.

“The aim of the cultural week would be to look for common areas of connection. By being exposed to different cultures, we get to learn from each other and explore alternative ways of handling issues which would be beneficial to all parties involved,” she said.

She said the festival will open today with an art workshop by Tarantula Rubra, a contemporary Italian musical band, at the University of Ghana, School of Performing Arts, on the theme “Two Cultures, Same Rhythms”.

Tarantula Rubra will also stage a concert dubbed, Twin Rhythms, at the Alliance Française in Accra tomorrow, October 17, in the evening.

On Saturday, October 18, the residence of the Italian Ambassador will be the venue for screening the film, Pinocchio, by Luigi Comencini and Nino Manfredi.

There would be an exhibition of Italian architecture dubbed “Small Utopias” at the Department of Architecture, KNUST, Kumasi, on Monday morning. Later that day at 7pm, the movie, Generazione Mille Euro, will be shown at the Goethe Institute in Accra.
