At a press launch recently, Director of Global Media Alliance, Edwin Amankwah said, “We are proud to say that African Legends Night is now a brand that lives in the hearts and on the minds of many who believe in the rich culture and heritage of African music.

“With Meiway on bill and assistance from reputable artistes in the country, this year’s event will give patrons a lifetime experience”.

The Chief Executive Officer of Kasapreko Company Limited, Richard Adjei, whose outfit is collaborating with Global Media Alliance also stated,  “Celebrating authentic and original music from our roots as Africans is the passion of Kasapreko. This is what our brand stands for, to champion our African culture and traditions.

Real name, Frederic Desire Ehui, Meiway is credited for pioneering the famous Zoblazo dance when he released his debut Ayibebou album in 1989 with his group, Zo Gang.

Other albums he has to his credit are 200% Zoblazo, Hold Up, Extraterrestre, Golgotha and 9ème Commandement.

His musical career which has span over two decades has earned him reputable awards including a Best Regional Artist Award at the first annual African Music Awards in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1996.

Meiway also received official recognition for his talent at the Tamani Awards (presented as part of the International Music Festival in Mali) in 2005 where he walked home with the Best Ivorian Artist of the Year.

He is also a recipient of many KORA awards where he has won the Best Artiste in West Africa, Best Arranger, Best Video, among others.

Notable performers who have in the past graced the stage of the African Legends Night are Hugh Masekela, Femi Kuti, Steve Bedi and Ben Brako.
