Francophonie festival here again

French singer Mouron with support from pianist Terry Truck,  will give a modern artistic coherence to French chanson by Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel,, among others, on Saturday, March 15 while an exhibition of hand- painted movie posters from the collection of Jospeh Oduro-Frimpong will open on Saturday, March 15.

The Accra Francophonie Film Festival will take place from Thursday, March 20 to Saturday March 29 with a variety of films from diverse countries and cultures.

Friday, March 21 will be the turn of the youth who will participate in a job fair while a fun fair that will encompass music, dance, literature and food from several Francophonie countries will take place on Saturday, March 22.

The highlight of the festival is a performance by the Beninois Afro-Pop star, Sessime, who is scheduled to woo live music fans also on Saturday, March 22. 

A multi award winner, she has been performing all over Europe and Africa with her album titled “Wazakoua”. A special raffle will be organised on the day of the performance. 

La Paillote Takpekpe, which is being organised by the Institute for Music and Development, will host a night of traditional/contemporary music, dance and fashion from Northern Ghana on Wednesday, March, 26 as part of the 2014 Francophonie festival.

Performers will come from the Youth Home Cultural Group and the Wuza Wuza Dance Ensemble.

The Francophonie festival is an annual  event organised all over the world where the French are represented.

Institut Francais Ghana, Embassy of France, La Francophonie, Societe General Ghana, Ash Foam, CFAO, Bollore Africa Logistics, Louis Dreyfus Commodities, Citroen, Nustyle and Golden Exotics are supporting Francophonie 2014.
