It was a great weekend for merrymakers at the annual Hogbetsotso festival in the Volta Region when Afropop artiste, Edem and his squad of artistes stormed Keta and Anloga for a concert dubbed Edemfest.
Held on the High Street of Keta last Friday night and with showstoppers like M.anifest, Tinny, MzVee, Yaa Pono and VVIP on the bill, there was no dull moment as the revellers danced and sang along to their songs.
Their performances paved the way for Edem, who put together the event sponsored from telcom giants MTN to mount the stage and give his home people the treat of their lives as he performed many of his songs including Too Much, Koene, Nyedzilo, Bra Fre Me among others.
The event, which is intended to be an annual event by Edem to entertain home fans, also saw curtain raisers from a host of budding artistes like Kula, Kemenya, Remy J, Enamily, J.J Gonami among others.
The Hogbetsotso festival commemorates the historic exodus of the Anlos from Notsie in the Republic of Togo, to their present locations in Ghana.
This year’s edition attracted thousands of local and foreign revellers to witness the rich cultural showcase of the Anlos.
Several fun packed activities characterised the celebrations which kept the towns of Keta and Anloga alive.
Truly, the Hogbetsotso festival, which this year was on the theme: “Rebranding the historic and Tourist sites of Anlo State for Development,” has entrenched itself a major attraction for cultural tourism.
