Thus this year’s “Celebration of Life” which comes off on Sunday, September 18 at the National Theatre aims to sensitise Ghanaians on the need to appreciate the peace and stability being enjoyed in the country.

Bernard who is known for songs such as Mercy and His Presence has in the past eight years used his concert to bring lovers of gospel music together but as this is an election year, he deems it important to champion the cause for peace.

“We have no other country but Ghana and despite our various tribal and political backgrounds, we must see ourselves as one people working towards the common agenda of development. Our political diversities shouldn’t be a cause for war,” he told Showbiz last Friday.

Currently promoting the video of his new song, Come To Jesus, Bernard said he holds the salvation of the youth dear to his heart but sometimes, one needs to talk about practical things in society and that is what he hopes to achieve with the peace concert.

“I’m not impressed with the utterances of some of our political leaders at a time when the political season is heated.

To forestall any turmoil in connection with the forthcoming general elections in November, I need to use my platform to ring peace in the ears of my followers. That is what we all cry for,” he added.

Though Bernard says he has no qualms about celebrities aligning themselves with political parties, he believes their messages of peace will be more  influential when they stay neutral.
