Desmond Lamptey gets National Communications Awards nomination

Mr Lamptey has been nominated in the Outstanding Communication and Media Education Personality of the Year for his role as a lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).

The National Communications Awards is an initiative aimed at highlighting the importance of communications as a tool for development.

Instituted by RAD Communications Limited, it is focused on celebrating and rewarding excellence among companies, teams and individuals.

The main event is expected to be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the Africa Trade House in Accra.

In an interview, Mr Lamptey said the event was a good step in projecting communications and also giving attention to people who were using media for good.

“Getting awards may not necessarily be a measure of your input and impact but at least, you are assured that you are doing something right and all your efforts are not in vain.

“As a lecturer at a communications institute, I have been advocating for the sanitisation of our media as an important instrument for development. I’m happy this National Communication Awards has come to give more credence to this assertion,” he stated.

According to Mr Lamptey, the event should not just be a platform to award some people in the media but be a platform for aggressive campaign to promote excellence in media.
