MTN Ghana has demonstrated its commitment to doing sustainable business in Ghana by constructing an impressive headquarters complex in Accra. Named “MTN House,” the ultra-modern complex is located on Independence Avenue and hosts approximately 800 employees on seven levels that include a basement, ground floor and five additional floors.  Construction of MTN House commenced in 2013 and was completed for occupancy in October 2015.

Other impressive features of the building include a roof garden, a crèche for staff dependents, a modern gym facility, a 120-seat cafeteria, a modern kitchen, a multipurpose hall and an ultra-modern car park with over 300 parking spaces.

In order to ensure environmental sustainability, MTN put in place green initiatives including rain water harvesters and recycling receptacles. There are also plans for implementation of sustainable energy.

Addressing guests at a commissioning event on March 23rd 2016, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN, Mr. Ebenezer Twum Asante, recounted the history behind construction of the facility, tracing the company’s history from the establishment of its first office on Graphic Road office in Accra with a few customers to its current size with over 16 million customers.

He said, “This landmark building has a design that is both classic and modern to represent MTN’s timeless relevance and long-term impact in Ghana. Its splendid architecture represents our Bold New Digital World vision, built to last beyond this century and even look further to the next millennium.”

He added that the MTN House reiterates the commitment of the company to do viable business in Ghana: “To Ghanaians and potential investors, this building is a bold declaration of our belief in this country and its future, and we must all work to make it great.”

Mr. Asante also used the occasion to pay glowing tributes to past Chief Executive Officers who contributed in diverse ways to the building of the Corporate Office. He also commended the Project team, previous executives and officials from government and other institutions for their immense contribution to the project.

Board Chairman of MTN Ghana, Mr. Ishmael Yamson, challenged MTN employees to be inspired by the unique environment of MTN House to fulfil the expectation of even greater leadership. He said, “This building is also a call to greater responsibility.  As MTN leads in the transformation of Ghana’s telecommunications sector, we also expect MTN staff to provide leadership in our communities and to ensure that our impact is felt in all spheres of life.”
