Vanguard Assurance meets obligation to GCGL

Vanguard Assurance Company, a local insurance entity, Wednesday paid an insurance claim of GH¢92,700 to the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) to cover the loss of the company’s vehicle which was involved in an accident on the Accra-Kumasi road in 2012.

The insurance company had earlier paid GH¢44,000 to the family of the driver, Samuel Kwaku Konadu, who died in the accident.

Presenting a cheque for the amount to the Managing Director of the GCGL, Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, the Chief Executive Officer of Vanguard Assurance, Mr Gideon Amenyedor, commended the GCGL for insuring its staff and vehicles with Vanguard.

He said although the amount to be paid to bereaved families would not bring deceased members of staff back to life, it would go a long way to support the upkeep of their families.

Mr Ashigbey expressed regret at Konadu’s demise, saying that his “death marked one of the most difficult periods of my career”.

He commended Vanguard for the prompt payment of the claim, noting that the GCGL had struggled to receive similar claims from other insurers in the past.

“It’s commendable that Vanguard has paid the claim on time. The value is high… We are very grateful…It’s not for nothing that Vanguard is a hall of fame when it comes to insurance,” he said, adding, “We will continue to do business with you.”
