UPSA wins MTN Pulse-HR Business Challenge

For the second time in three years, the University of Professional Studies Accra(UPSA), has emerged winner at the MTN Pulse- HR Focus Business Challenge held in Accra last Friday.

The university beat eight other universities to annex the coveted trophy.

The victory at this year’s edition has entrenched the university’s dominance over the competition owing to its outstanding performances at the last two editions.

The UPSA team came top of their group which had Wisconsin International University College and Accra Institute of Technology (AIT), before going on to defeat University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) at the grande finale to clinch the ultimate.

The Head of Department of Business Administration at UPSA, Dr Emmanuel Selase Asamoah, who spoke immediately after the contest revealed that the team after winning the maiden edition in 2016, and losing out narrowly at the finals last year, decided to double their efforts this year.

“The team has done a good job and should be proud of themselves. This goes a long way to prove that UPSA is the best among the best,” he said.

Presenting the trophy to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Abednego Okoe Feehi Amartey, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies, Dr Fidelis Quansah said the feat chalked up by the students was a clear attestation of the professional values that were imbibed into the students.

Prof  Amartey congratulated the contestants and said, “you have made UPSA proud, you have made your families proud, and above all, you have made yourselves proud.”

He added that he was personally overjoyed and proud because the accomplishment by the students showed the kind of impact the institution had made on them and urged them not to rest on their oars.

“I know this is just the beginning and this should spur you on for greater things to come. The way to the top can sometimes be muddy and it takes hard work, perseverance and God to get to the top,” he advised.

Prof Amartey also commended the team coach, Babara Tetteh, the Dean of Students, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies, Association of Business Administration Students (ABAS) for their diverse support and contributions towards the achievement of the feat.
