UniBank CEO wins Transformational Leadership award

The Chief Executive Officer of UniBank Ghana Limited, Mr Felix Nyarko-Pong, has been declared the Man of the Year and winner of the 2012 Africa Prize for Transformational Leadership.

The award was conferred on him by the Global Centre for Transformational Leadership (GCTL) in Accra in recognition of his excellent performance at the bank and in public life in general.

The award came with a certificate of recognition and citation which espoused the leadership, God-fearing and  excellent human relationship credentials of Mr Nyarko-Pong.

The Chairman of the Centre, Reverend Godwin Davids, who presented the award to the UniBank CEO, said the Mr Nyarko-Pong had distinguished himself as "a leader par excellence and deserving of honours."

He enumerated the successes of UniBank under its present CEO as some of the things that motivated the centre to chose him as the Man of the Year and winner of the 2012 Africa Prize for Transformational Leadership.

"We are the most honoured to honour him because he has proven that he is a leader whose work imparts positively, not just on the institution he heads, but also on the people around him," Reverend Davids noted.

Mr Nyarko-Pong, upon receiving the citation and the certificate, thanked the GCTL for singling him out of the lot for the award.

"I am particularly honoured that I have been chosen out of the many managing directors, CEOs and other heads of institutions whose work also concern the public," the UniBank CEO said.

He dedicated the award to the customers of the bank and further urged them to partner UniBank as it strives to meet and exceed their needs and aspirations.

He also commended the bank's staff for assisting him over the years to move the bank forward and pledged to work harder to justify the award.

UniBank, under Mr Nyarko-Pong, has chalked up many laurels in the banking sector, including winning five awards at the 2012 Ghana Banking Awards.
