Tullow oil confident about Ghana’s upstream sector

The Executive Vice President of Tullow Ghana, Mr Kweku Awotwi’s has expressed its commitment to ensuring the of the country’s oil and gas industry for the mutual benefit of all stakeholders.

At this year’s Offshore Technology Conference in Texas Huston, saw the strong presence from the regulator, the Petroleum Commission, the sector ministry and the lead operator of the country’s premier oil fields Jubilee and Tweneboa Enyenra and Ntomme (TEN) fields Tullow Ghana as well as players from the country upstream oil and gas industry.

At the sessions, Mr Awotwi said, its presence at the OTC highlights our collective commitment to growing and developing Ghana’s oil sector and seeking partnerships.

At the Ghana Pavilion, Mr Awotwi in his brief remarks said Tullow’s is pleased to collaborate with the government through the sector ministry, the regulator the Petroleum Commission and its Partner the GNPC, to promote the strides Ghana has made in oil and gas industry since joining the comity of oil nations.

“OTC is a convergence of best and brightest in the global oil and gas industry and is a good opportunity to showcase Ghana’s progress, potential and prospects,” he said.

Mr. Awotwi further added, “It will be an exciting time here in Houston. As a collective I know we aim for great participation from which we can draw useful lessons and experience.”

The four-day-conference he said came with opportunities to strike partnerships to further develop the potential of Ghana’s oil and gas sector.

Companies from Ghana include Kosmos Energy, Aker Energy, MODEC, Prime Meridian Docks, Seaweld Engineering, Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority, the sector ministry, team from the Petroleum Commission led by its Chief Executive, Mr Egbert Faibille Jr. and the national oil company, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

The ministry at the sessions stressed the need to showcase Ghana’s successful incursion into the global oil and gas sector and draw from the required expertise both indigenous and from the diaspora.
