This corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, undertaken in partnership with local distributor Sammar Trading, aims to provide sustainable access to clean water for the community.

The Head of Marketing and Corporate Communication at CBI Ghana Ltd, Adeline Esi Sutherland, explained that the borehole project addresses a critical need in Koforidua Okorase, where water scarcity has long been a challenge. By providing a reliable source of clean water, Supacem is demonstrating its commitment to improving the quality of life in the communities where it operates.

"As part of Supacem's commitment to corporate social responsibility, we partnered with our local distributor who identified a need within the community of Koforidua Okorase for sustainable access to clean water. This borehole project aligns with our goal to make a positive, long-term impact on the communities where we operate by providing a solution that will improve daily life and health," she said.

The project exemplifies Supacem's dedication to sustainable development. "Just as we produce eco-friendly LC3 cement to reduce carbon emissions in the construction industry, we also aim to minimize environmental impacts in our CSR projects," Ms. Sutherland added.

On the choice of a borehole, she stated that it is a sustainable solution which harnesses groundwater, and is less prone to contamination and easier to maintain over time. “This makes it a more environmentally responsible choice compared to alternatives like open wells,” she noted.

The CEO of Sammar Trading and Construction Limited, Alex Owusu Larbi, highlighted the importance of local partnerships in the project's success. He explained that as a trusted local partner that understands the unique needs of the Koforidua Okorase community his outfit was able to provide guidance in ensuring that the project is rooted in local expertise, which will help with the long-term maintenance and success of the borehole.

“This has demonstrated very visibly to the people of Koforidua Okorase that Supacem not only seeks to do business within the community but it has their interest at heart,” he added.

The community has warmly welcomed the initiative. Nana Asare Kumi III, Chief of Koforidua Okorase and Akuapem Ohene, expressed his gratitude, stating, "This borehole project is our way of showing that we care about your health, your well-being, and your future."
