Speaking at the launch at the St Albans International School in Accra, the Commercial Director of PZ Cussons, David Afflu, acknowledged the dedication school authorities and parents made to ensure that children grew to enjoy a fruitful, successful and rewarding future.
Mr Afflu pledged the support of the company in helping to achieve this dream and noted that “Carex believes in your dream and we are willing to support you to achieve it.”
He stressed that a vast change in hand washing behaviour was critical to meeting the Millennium Development Goals of reducing deaths among children under the age of five by two- thirds by 2015.
He said it was based on this motive that PZ Cussons decided to partner with St Albans International School because it believed that the future of the country was in the hands of children.
Mr Afflu added that the Global Hand Washing Day had three objectives: To foster and support a global culture of hand washing with soap; to shine a spotlight on the state of hand washing in every country; and to raise awareness about the benefits of hand washing with soap.
The ‘Hands up for Carex’ campaign, according Mr Afflu, would be a nationwide campaign which would be rolled out in the coming weeks through a series of programmes in schools, educating children on hand washing and good hygienic habits, while engaging them in educative fun-filled activities.
Pearl Annor, Assistant Brand Manager of Carex Cussons, took the schoolchildren through the steps in ensuring proper hand washing with Carex antibacterial soap such as the hand wash, hand gel and hand wipes.
