OmniBank supports Ghana @ 60 celebrations

OmniBank, a private entity, has donated GH¢50,000 to the Ghana @ 60 Committee in response to the government's call to corporate bodies to contribute towards the funding of the year-long anniversary celebration.

The gesture, according to the company, was in line with its corporate social responsibility which was being discharged on the theme “Growing Communities’, and an extension of its contribution to the development of the country.

At a short ceremony at the Flagstaff House where a dummy cheque for the amount was handed over, the Managing Director (MD) of OmniBank, Mr Philip Oti Mensah, said the bank was proud to support the celebration and to showcase to the public that Omnibank embraced the idea of mobilising for the future.

“We embrace the theme for the Ghana at 60 celebrations, “Mobilising for Ghana’s future”, which is in line with the bank’s mission of mobilising deposits and growing further with our strategy to acquire one million customer accounts and reach three billion cedis in deposits by 2020,” he stated.

Economy

Mr Mensah said OmniBank would not be effective if it failed to contribute towards the community and environment that gave it the opportunity to operate as a bank.

He, therefore, called on the government to help improve and stabilise the economy for businesses to thrive by putting in place the needed fiscal measures, stressing that; “It is important to get interest rates down to reduce the cost of doing business”.

“As we mobilise for the future, making the micro economy stable should be another important issue the government must be concerned with,” he added.

OmniBank, he said, was a Ghanaian-owned entity that identified with the struggles of the everyday Ghanaian and the hope of a better future for all.

Support

A member of the Ghana @ 60-anniversary celebration Planning Committee, Mr Duke Ofori-Atta, who received the cheque, expressed profound gratitude to the bank.

He said the support for the anniversary celebration had been categorised into two, one of which was sponsorship for projects such as the rehabilitation of a room at the Osu Castle used by Queen Elizabeth when she visited Ghana.

Mr Ofori-Atta called for more support from corporate institutions for the year-long Ghana@ 60 celebrations that started from the first week of March 2017.
