Grow ideas through Google products — Estelle

Google Ghana has advised Ghanaian entrepreneurs to grow their business ideas using Google products such as Google map, Google chrome, youtube, Google plus and Google search.
Mrs Estelle Akofio Sowah, Google Ghana’s country manager made the call when Google Ghana held a business session for 50 Ghanaian entrepreneurs.

The event, which was part of Google for Entrepreneurship Week programme in Ghana, was aimed at inspiring entrepreneurs in the country through programmes, partnership and products.

The Google for Entrepreneurship Week celebrates entrepreneurs and demonstrates Google’s leadership and commitment to fostering entrepreneurship around the world, the programme seeks to grow entrepreneur communities and to equip entrepreneurs with skills and resources to pursue their big ideas.

Mrs Akofio Sowah, encouraged the participating entrepreneurs to advertise their businesses and ideas online through Google products.

According to her, a small idea could grow to become a life changing idea.

She also disclosed that, Google has demonstrated its commitment to supporting Ghanaian SMEs and entrepreneurs by awarding six “Innovation Heroes” for using the internet to deliver smart technological solutions to existing issues.

Also, Google has launched the Africa connected initiative, a competition that will give five people a chance to win $25, 000 each, as well as the opportunity to work with a Google sponsor over a six month period to drive the growth of their businesses.

However, in an interview with the Graphic Business,  Mrs Sowah revealed some of the challenges that Googlewas facing in Ghana such as; lack of internet access in certain places, high cost of internet charges and lack of devices to access the internet.

She also cited the ability to get the right information as another challenge and called on all Ghanaians to use the Internet to tell the Ghanaian story to the outside world by using products such as youtube and blogspot.
