Prefos to break into Burkinabe market

The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its Burkina Faso counterpart are in talks to help a Ghanaian electrical and civil engineering company, Prefos Limited, to break into the Burkina Faso market.

Prefos, credited with the installation of some of Ghana's street lights and a contributor to the country's rural electrification project since 1991, is also expected to build a training school in Burkina Faso as part of its transfer technology process and youth empowerment.

Delegation

A delegation from the Burkina Faso chamber of commerce, led by its representative in Ghana, Abdoulaye Sherif Ouedraogo, including their Member of Parliament and businessman, Ouedraogo Abdoul Akim, were in Kumasi last week Thursday to tour the facilities of the company to satisfy themselves before finalising the talks which started in September last year.

The General Manager of the company, Frank Agyemang, who gave an assurance of his outfit’s preparedness to do business in Burkina Faso, also hinted that an industrial hub, known as the 'Prefos Industrial Zone', was being built to manufacture electrical cables and poles, solar lights and the assembling of LED lights.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce, Mark Badu-Aboagye, commended Prefos for being an integral part of the Ghanaian economy and helping train a lot of youth through its training schools.

He said the collaboration would help expand the economies of both countries and help alleviate poverty.

Mr Ouedraogo said it was time African countries came together to promote trade and present a united front to compete with the rest of the world.
