The 2019 edition of the ‘Springboard Road Show’, a youth-oriented knowledge-sharing programme that aims at mentoring business executives, civil society leaders, and role models nationwide, will start on Saturday in Kumasi.

The programme, which also aims at human capital development and social transformation, is a month-long event which will be held in three regional capital cities: Kumasi, Cape Coast and Accra from March 9 to March 30, 2019.

With a focus on digital revolution, this year’s edition of the programme seeks to train participants on how to seize opportunities in an uncertain, digitised world.

The programme has been designed on three key pillars: compelling content, talent expose and a networking session.

Transformation

According to the organisers of the programme, digitisation continues to transform the way of life and business operations in various industries, hence the need to focus on digitisation.

“The way goods and services are communicated, procured, delivered and consumed keeps changing every day, with the tendency of getting escalated,” a statement from the organisers said.

It said while Ghana was a late adapter in technology, mobile voice subscriptions that exceed 40 million, data subscription that is over 22 million and mobile money that accounts for more than 30 million, were significant.

“Individuals and businesses that want to be relevant in the years ahead must have a strategy and be equipped to take advantage of these developments,” the statement said.

It said speakers would talk about the technologies and digital innovations that were transforming the way of life and work and explore great ideas and innovative solutions.

“They will conclude by indicating viable business opportunities that technology is creating and what individuals can do to take full advantage,” the statement said.

The Springboard road show is designed and spearheaded by Albert & Comfort Ocran.

The springboard UMB talent expose

A special addition to this year’s edition of the road show is the ‘Talent Expose’ which is opened to talented Ghanaians between ages 18-35 who would like to showcase their creative skills to the world.

According to the organisers of the programme, potential candidates are encouraged to either collaborate with friends or compete alone for mouth-watering prizes and an opportunity to understudy an expert in their area of interest.

The creative categories will be in the area of drama, dance and choreography, fashion, graphic and fine art, mobile apps, softwares and digital solutions, music and disc jockeying (Djing) and spoken word and poetry.

Participants are expected to use their creative skills or innovative solutions to demonstrate how they could influence their generation to become globally competitive.

They are to record a 60-second video and submit it through the official Springboard WhatsApp line.
