Ghana pavilion unique at 50th OTC in Houston – Visitors

Visitors to the Ghana Pavilion at the ongoing 50th Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas, have described the concept of bringing all Ghanaian companies under one roof at the conference as unique, because it provides easy access to information.

According to the participants who visited the Pavilion, unlike many other countries, the Ghana pavilion has provided a one-stop-shop for patrons to have easy access to all kinds of information.

Presently, more than 26 companies in the oil and gas sector of the country including the Consolidated Shipping Agency (Conship), the Ministry of Energy, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, National Petroleum Authority, Gas Gas among many other agencies under the sector ministry, are showcasing their worth at the conference which is being attended by more than 70,000 players in the industry from across the world.

Observations

A Korean geologist, Mr Lin Ku Yin, said “I was attracted by the signage of the Ghana Pavilion and walked in. I have ben able to speak with quite a number of the exhibitors from various backgrounds and I can say that I now have a lot of information about Ghana’s oil sector”.

According to him, other countries have their companies scattered among many others and therefore, it makes it difficult to trace them.

A delegate from Nigeria, Mr Thomas Chukwu said “Ghana is noted for setting the pace”.

According to him, although Ghana is a “new kid on the block” in the oil sector, it has managed to make a lot of inroads by “behaving as if it has it all” because of the way it has positioned itself”.

The President of KS Oilfield Logistics LLC, Mr Victor Uwak, also described the Ghana Pavillion concept as unique.

“The space you are occupying is he best because of the easy access to and I can tell that this is good. We will replicate same next year because its just lovely”, he added.
