Firms get value advertising in Daily Graphic — TUC boss

The Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Dr Anthony Yaw Baah, has stated that the invaluable advertising platform the Daily Graphic and other publications of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL) offered are avenues for businesses to connect with their stakeholders, grow their profitability and expand to create more jobs.

He explained that while some people might think that Graphic was getting money from the advertisements, the reality was that those businesses were getting more value through the clients the platform enabled them to reach and attract.

“Just think about the way Graphic influences the turnover of companies. If you want your turnover to improve for your bottom line to be enhanced, you need to advertise in Graphic. This is real,” he said.

Interaction

In an interaction with the Managing Director (MD) of the GCGL, Mr Ato Afful, prior to taking his turn as the second Guest Editor of the Daily Graphic last Wednesday, Dr Baah said Graphic was a critical stakeholder in the development of the private sector and the nation in general.

The TUC boss noted that the job vacancy advertisements in the Daily Graphic and the other brands had also helped a number of people to secure jobs, from which they earned incomes to feed their families.

“Any serious employer who wants serious people will advertise in the Daily Graphic. This is true and nobody can doubt that,” he said, adding that until the proliferation of broadcast and social media, the Graphic Group had always been a dominant force in the information gathering and dissemination space.

Consequently, Dr Baah said organised labour was honoured to be associated with the company and would play its role to sustain and nurture the relationship.

He described the opportunity to guest edit the Daily Graphic as a rare privilege and an exciting memory that would stay with him forever.

Relationship

The MD of the GCGL thanked Dr Baah for honouring the invitation and pledged to deepen the relationship between the two institutions.

Mr Afful said as an organisation in the creative industry, the Graphic Group was delighted to help companies and businesses reach out to their clients in ways that would improve their fortunes.

He assured the TUC Secretary-General of continuous innovation to satisfy customers and grow the economy.

Reach

The Director of Marketing, Mr Franklin Sowa, said GCGL had built credibility over the years which is used to help businesses to enhance and nourish their brands.

As a result of the credibility, companies that advertised in the company’s brands were deemed to be credible, making it easier for brands and fortunes to improve.

The marketing director stated that the introduction of digital platforms, including the Graphic NewsPlus, the electronic version of the company’s newspapers, and the Graphic Online, were some of the new products that the company was using to give customers enhanced opportunities to reach out to their customers.

70th Anniversary

The economics and labour expert was the second high-profile personality to take the seat in the Guest Editor Series, initiated as part of activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the GCGL.

The group publishes the Daily Graphic, five newspapers and two online news portals. They are The Mirror, the Graphic Sports, the Graphic Showbiz, the Junior Graphic and the Graphic Business, as well as online products, the Graphic NewsPlus and Graphic Online.

The Managing Director of Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited and first Guest Editor, Mr Alhassan Andani, edited the Daily Graphic in May.

Other high-profile personalities have also been pencilled as Guest Editors for the Platinum Jubilee celebration that climaxes in October, this year.

The once a month event will also see a former Ag. Editor of the Daily Graphic, Ms Elizabeth Ohene and the Quizmistress of the National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ), Dr Elsie Effah Kaufmann, take their turn as Guest Editors.
