Fidelity Bank is pursuing a programme of financial inclusion with a number of initiatives that are geared to promote active participation by consumers in banking.
According to officials of the bank, the long-term initiatives are critical components of the bank’s national development agenda.

“At the heart of the Fidelity Bank initiatives is a deep desire to impact the lives of Ghanaians. A key pillar of the bank’s vision is the transformation of the lives of the people of Ghana,” the deputy Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Mr Jim Baiden, said at the first monthly draw of the bank’s ‘Big Fat Zero Promotion’ at Nungua in Accra.

The draw coincided with the launch of the bank’s branch at Nungua, the 46th in its network.

The promotion is to attract new customers and also reward existing customers for their continued patronage and keeping faith with the bank.

The Fidelity Big Fat Zero Promo is also aimed at inculcating a savings culture in Ghanaians and generates a pool of cheaper funds to support small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs).

Mr Baiden said one of the driving forces behind setting up the bank was the inspiration by the founders that for the country to make it to middle-income status, a critical mass of consumers were crucial to play an active role in the country’s financial system.

He indicated that out of an adult population of over 15 million people, only 35 per cent was banked, and that there was a dire need for financial institutions in the country which required strategies and initiatives to bring more people into the banking system.

In the first monthly draw, three lucky customers had a zero added onto their maintained balances with Fidelity Bank over the past month.

They are Messrs Michael Abiemor of the Sunyani branch; Francis Afranie of the Accra Ridge branch and Agyapong Fosu Amankwah of the Koforidua branch.

There will be monthly draws in the two-phase promotion with a grand draw prize to be awarded in March, 2014.
