Business efficiency thrives on entrepreneurial skills — Agyepong

KTT, under the Chairmanship of the Apostle General, Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah seeks to provide high quality, cost effective, enjoyable training and business games for private and public sector organisations.
The two–day event was on the theme, “Creating Added Value for Your Organisation: The Role of Project Management.”
Addressing participants at the bootcamp, the Chief Executive Officer of Jospong Group of Companies, Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong said although PM leads to business efficiency, it thrives on entrepreneurial skills.
He said though Ghana abounds in natural resources and had big land area like other African countries, they lacked development because most of the investments that had come were for external gains.
Sadly, he said the few indigenous businesses that once flourished had all gone down due to lack of appropriate policies to protect them. “Therefore, the right polices need to be put in place to inculcate in the citizenry the spirit of innovativeness,” he said.
Mr Agyepong, a renowned entrepreneur, particularly in waste management appealed to the government to create the conducive environment to attract Ghanaians, particularly the youth into entrepreneurship.
He said such an environment would give Ghanaians the leverage to manage what was left of their resources. He also advised the youth to take advantage of the numerous business opportunities and innovations that existed in Ghana and not only look outside to make it.
“No matter how you are, no matter the level you can make it here in Ghana,” he said.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said poor PM was a major challenge to development and that projects could only be successful if they were executed within the stipulated time frame.
He said PM was essential for a developing country like Ghana so it can move from a developing nation to a developed economy.
Mr Ablakwa said it was unfortunate that the linkage between research and industry in Ghana was non-existent. Yet, in countries such as Germany, Singapore and Malaysia, businesses that have become conglomerates have benefited from research by their education institutions.
“I am appealing to industry to strengthen linkage between academia and industry. It is only through research that we can be spot on and scientific, we will know there is a scientific basis,” he said.
The Chairman of KTT, Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah said the current development era demands the ability of the citizenry to manage projects that were committed into our hands and that PM is key to managing our resources, maximise profits and add value to whatever we do.
“The main challenge facing our part of the world is the ability to maintain, manage and to adopt projects and initiatives”, he said.
He added that PM Bootcamp sought to create awareness of the benefits of value creation using PM, to educate participants and highlight linkages between entrepreneurship and PM, to promote efficiency in managing any project towards achieving expected results and to address challenges that impair national and organisational projects.
