Access Bank ends financial inclusion promo

Access Bank Ghana has signed on more than 30,000 new customers under its Big Deal Promo which was aimed at roping in the country’s underserved and unbanked population into the banking system.

This came to light when the bank presented prizes to the ultimate winner of the promotion, Mr Ibrahim Apusiga, who banks with the Suame branch, at a short ceremony in Accra.

The promotion, which was launched in August last year, targeted existing and new customers of the bank to encourage the habit of saving among them. 

The campaign also rewarded customers with a complete home makeover and hundreds of electrical appliances in two mini draws and a grand draw.

Mr Apusiga received luxurious furnishing for a bedroom, living room, dining room and kitchen from Casa Trasacco. He also took home a 55-inch Samsung LED TV, a home theatre set and a split air conditioner as his prize.

“I am really a happy man today and I feel proud to have taken part in this promo. I didn’t believe I could win all these luxurious and expensive furnishings for my kitchen, dining, living and bed rooms. 

I was just saving for the growth of my business and to take care of my family,” an elated Mr Apusiga, told reporters last Friday.

Forty other customers won other household electrical items such as food processors, water dispensers, microwaves and LED TVs in the grand draw.  

This brings to 125, the total number of customers rewarded in the Access Bank Big Deal Promo.  

The Managing Director of Access Bank, Mr Dolapo Ogundimu, congratulated the winners and thanked them for their patronage, saying “saving for a rainy day is important and that is why we run these promotions as part of Access Bank’s efforts to develop a culture of saving among Ghanaians.” 

Mr Ogundimu also highlighted the key strategic investments the bank is making to position itself as the bank of choice for customers. 

“This year we are investing in various areas of our operations, especially technology to improve our service to you, our customers, and to ensure that you experience quality banking service at all our touch points. Our promise to all our stakeholders is speed, service and security and this will guide everything we do in 2015,” he stated.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Casa Trasacco, Mr Massimiliano Taricone, expressed the company’s excitement to be associated with the Big Deal Promo, saying ‘’it was a great initiative to incentivise customers to save and we are happy to be associated with Access Bank.”
