“SWANA certification courses enable you to gain advance knowledge in specific areas, as well as familiarity with best management practices and regulatory requirements,” he explained, adding, “It, therefore, equips industry professionals with the know-how to deal with emerging challenges in the operation and maintenance of landfills globally. It is, therefore, a prerequisite for working in the highly regulated landfill industry in North America.”

He disclosed that apart from the course, the group underwent a three-week attachment at various sanitary- engineered landfills in the province of Ontario, Canada, to acquaint themselves with the application of latest technology and best practices in the operation and maintenance of sanitary landfills.
