Rev Fr Tetteh Matthias Djabatey of St.Roses SHS on students destruction of state properties
Somewhere last year I made these observations.
Today it is not students on drinking spree but people who have been educated with state resources are destroying state properties and insulting the very people who mean well for their future. What has happened?
Education means nothing without character formation.

Education is no Education without the formation of the human conscience..this is at the heart of Missionary education or faith-based education.
And what is the sense of getting A1s and B2s when you cannot fit into society, respect constituted structures and authorities?
How do you tell me that you have received Education and yet you destroy your own society.
Why must students go to school for 3years and yet cannot pass without "Apor"?
Why should a strict and serious headmaster become a threat to students?
Free SHS education is very good and a breakthrough in our country for sure. No arguments about that policy.
However, with what is happening, let us revisit the Philosophical and social foundations of Education. Let us visit Ancient Greece and get some guidelines from Plato and Aristotle among others and combine that with modern approach to science and Technology...
Let us bring back discipline and moral formation into our school system.
Let the teacher Lead not the student.
Let the serious and committed teacher be untouchable not the "directionless " student.
Plato says Education is the process of leading people from darkness to light...
Let us not let discipline be chased into the Bush in the name of child's right....
