Yahaya can’t deny me goal-king title — Latif Blessing

Liberty Professionals wonder kid, Latif Atta Blessing, says he is still in the race for the goal-king title despite battling an injury for the past two weeks after netting 13 goals for the Dansoman-based club.

The enterprising youngster, who picked the injury during his side’s MTN FA Cup semi-final match against Okwawu United at the Baba Yara Stadium a fortnight ago said not even his strong contender, Yahaya Mohammed of Aduana Stars, could deny him the opportunity to add his name to the legends’ list this season.

Last Sunday at the Carl Reindorf Park, Latif, who appeared restless in the stands while his teammates wasted every opportunity to score a goal against West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) in their Week 26 fixture which ended 0-0, said he was confident he would score more goals in the remaining four matches to catch up with his competitors after being cleared by his physiotherapist.

“I am still eyeing the goal king title because we have about four more matches to play to end the season and I believe strongly that when I return to the pitch I will score more goals to catch up with my contenders. God can use just one second to do a miracle so I believe that he can use just one match to make me a goal king”, he contended.

The 20-year-old prodigy, who is currently under treatment by one Mr Owusu, a pysiotherapist at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, is expected to join his colleagues today for training and possibly feature on Sunday against Techiman City in their Week 27 league encounter.

The talented player, who has had a breakthrough at the Dansoman Park this season, was, however, worried about Liberty’s abysmal performance in the second round of the season and feared the team might be relegated from the top flight competition.

“I am not happy about our recent poor showing. Things are not going well for us this second round because we’ve lost all our home matches and I’m getting worried. Football is like that but only God knows what’s going on so we will leave everything to God”, he added.
