Women’s League kicks off Sat

After several postponements, the  third edition of the National Women’s League (NWL) will finally kick off on the weekend of April 18 and 19.

According to programme ofactivities released by the Women’s League Board (WLB), the NWL will maintain its zonal status with matches in the northern and southern zones.

As part of the programme, though there are no official sponsors apart from the support from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), there will be a media launch of the competition on Wednesday, April 15 as part of the efforts to promote the event.

Also, there will be a FIFA Live Your Goal event at the end of the competition, also to help whip up interest in the women’s game.

The opening week of the league see  Immigration Ladies will host debutants, Blessed Ladies, Soccer Intellectuals will play Police Ladies, while LadyStrikers host defending champions, Hasaacas Ladies in the southern zone.

In the northern zone, Fabulous Ladies will host Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Prisons Ladies will play Dreamz Ladies while Lepo Ladies, making a return to the NWL, will host Ashtown Ladies.
