Who will upstage Mr K in the October race meetings?

The second day of the October Race Meetings continues tomorrow at the Accra Turf Club at Borteiman in Accra with horse owners and jockeys getting ready to continue the struggle for supremacy and pride.

With the organisers Accra Turf Club still in search of potential sponsors for the ‘sport of kings’, there would be very little motivation when the jockeys mount their horses to war against each other than for  prominence.

Although the outcome of tomorrow’s event would not have any significant impact, victory for any of the stable owners and their jockeys is expected to kick-start a befitting preparation towards the Gold Cup Championship slated for January 2016.

As expected, horse owners such as Dr Omar Sattout, Madam Doreen A. Brown and Prof Nii Kwartelai Owoo are expected to line up their top jockeys and favourite horses to vie for the ultimate.

Experienced jockey, Joseph Lamptey, who won two races last Saturday to increase his tally to 19 on the championship chart, will be in action tomorrow as he has sworn to guard against any competition in order to complete the season in grand style.

Horses such as Sly Mongoose, Mr K, Lady Secret, General Salute, Let Them Say, Bonanza, Alvaro, High Rise, Thunder Storm, Ghana’s Pride, Monii Ahe Taawa, Blessing, Biscuit, Copta, Dante, Hajia, Marie Cruz and Fresh Boy are expected to compete in different events including Division 4A, 4B and 3B.

The event, which will start at 1:30 pm will attract a gate fee of GH¢2.
