This came to light after a Zone III Ordinary General Assembly congress held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, recently.

The congress, attended by the president of the Ghana Volleyball Association (GVA), Paul Atchoe, discussed, among other issues, the creation of a commission of coaches and the introduction of a Zone III youth nation’s volleyball championship.

The Ouagadougou congress also adopted the organisation of qualifying elimination series for Under 17, 19, 21 and 23 World Cup in participating countries.

For the first time, the Zone III volleyball community will organise the first edition of the Beach Volleyball Nations Cup in Ouagadougou from September 5 to 8, a joint communique at the congress stated.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic, Paul Atchoe noted that Ghana would prepare for all the tournaments at stake, but appealed for support from the government to enhance their preparations.

He was, however, optimistic that with a little support from the National Sports Authority (NSA), Ghana would go far in future international volleyball championships.
