The Indian women’s wing has presented a return ticket to one of the two athletes, Botsyo Nkegbe, who is expected to participate in the wheelchair racing competition with Maclean Atsu Dzidzienyo.

That sponsorship is being augmented by Interplast, which is also supporting with a return ticket for the other participants, while the President, Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ben Nunoo-Mensah, has also made a donation to facilitate the trip.

Nkegbe, who made the disclosure this to the Graphic Sports, said he was grateful for the support and was confident that the country would definitely secure qualification for the World Championship in July.

The Vice-president of the association, Vanisha Daryanani, said the group was inspired by the dedication and commitment of the athletes, hence their decision to support them.

"It's a special honour for us to sponsor the Paralympic athletes so they can achieve top performances. IWA and the Indian community in Ghana wish them all the best and hope to welcome them back as winners to make Ghana proud," the Vice-President said.

She noted that disability should not be a limitation to achieving one's goal in life and praised the two athletes for looking beyond their disability to do something for themselves and the nation as a whole, which was worthy to emulate.

The duo is scheduled to fly to Arizona in the USA today to participate in the Desert Challenge.
