The last edition was won by the Custom Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority who will face competition from Tema Oil Refinery, Eastern Naval Command of the Ghana Navy, Tema Metropolitan Assembly, Tex Styles Ghana Limited, New Chrystal Hospital and Everpure Mineral Water.

Speaking at the launch, a former Metropolitan Chief Executive for Tema, Mr Robert Kempes Ofosuware, lauded the organisers for reviving what used to be known as the Tema Inter-Departmental League.

Mr Ofosuware, who is the NDC Parliamentary aspirant for Tema East, said the competition would rekindle the healthy sporting rivalry among the various companies and lead to the unearthing of football talents just like it did in the past with the emergence of players such as Mohammed Polo, Peter Lamptey, Anas Seidu, Ibrahim Labaran, Lante France, among others.

He urged the participating clubs to adhere to the rules and regulations governing the league and avoid anything that could mar the beauty of the competition.

The Administrative Manager of Sabbspor Solutions Impex, Mr Jerome Kudzo Gammey, said the league will commence on October 28 and would be played on Fridays at the regrassed TDC Park at Community Four at 2p.m. and 4p.m.

According to him, this year’s edition is strictly reserved for workers of the participating companies, with each match lasting 60 minutes instead of the conventional 90 minutes.

Mr Gammey said each team is entitled to register 25 players, emphasising that the use of professional players or “mercenaries” will not be tolerated.

The Tema Metropolitan Football Association Chairman, Daasebre Adu Asare, tasked the participating teams to work towards the success of the league.
