The delegation, led by the committee chairman, Sam Arday, included the immediate past chairman Mr Ben Koufie, E.K. Afranie, Malik Jabir, Francis Oti Akenten, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani and J.O. Laryea.

They were received on arrival by the widow, Madam Sophia Nanka-Bruce, and some elders.

In his remarks, Coach Arday said the committee received news of Coach Attuquayefio’s death with great shock and, therefore, decided to pay a formal visit to console the family as a sign of solidarity in accordance with custom.

Arday, a bosom friend of the deceased, also promised the family of the committee’s support during the funeral.

“Jones was a statesman so we hope everybody will support the family to give him a fitting burial,” he said.

Mr Ben Koufie described Jones Attuquayefio as one of his favourite players during his coaching career.

“Jones was everything; He played under me in the Academicals and New Horizon all the way to the Black Stars when I was an assistant to C.K. Gyamfi,” he revealed.

‘He was hardworking, indefatigable; I don’t know how to describe him.

“He was an offensive midfielder but was scoring,” Mr Koufie recalled with nostalgia.

The delegation later took turns to sign the book of condolence in memory of their colleague.
