Tagoe: It’s fight of my life

Prized fighter Emmanuel Tagoe says he is in the best of shape of his career ahead of his bout with Filipino boxer, Joebert Delos Reyes, at the Accra Sports Stadium on April 24.

According to him, this bout against Reyes is a career-defining moment for him and as such has prepared very well to deal with any threat from his opponent.

The Bukom pugilist, known in boxing circles as “Gameboy”, stated that the rigorous training regimen his trainers had subjected him to over the past months makes him ready for his opponent.

“I have trained extremely hard for this bout, running along the beaches, lifting heavy metals and doing gym work. In fact, this is the hardest training I have ever done in my professional career,” the 26-year-old told the Graphic Sports in an interview yesterday.

The WBA International lightweight championship fight was originally scheduled for last month, march 27, but was later postponed because the Ghanaian boxer was unwell.

But Tagoe, who has a ring record of 22 victories (nine knockouts) and one loss, says he is now fit and poised to end the fight via the short route.

“This is a great opportunity for me, this is my chance to get a shot at a world title and I won’t let it pass”.

The April 24 bout, being promoted by Asamoah Gyan’s BabyJet Promotions, will also see a contest between Michael Dodo and Benjamin Lamptey for the national lightweight championship.
